Greetings, all you cute sisters out there. I hope
you feel your time checking out this page is well
spent.
Just to make sure we're on the same page here,
we're looking for a wonderful, exciting friendship
and love affair with an eternal companion, right?
Good.
So, let's get down to business:
Who is "aphilist?" I'm a graduate
student at BYU, going after a Master's degree in
physics. My research topic is general relativity
and black hole formation in higher dimensions.
Further details available upon request, except for
inquiries into "what you want to do with
physics" as I have no idea what the answer
is. That's where you (might) come in.
As you might expect from the above, I'm quiet and
shy and logical and analytical. Things make most
sense to me when expressed in an equation. I
enjoy translating gospel truths into the more
familiar and transparent language of
mathematics.
On a lighter note, I like to walk fast--very
fast--especially through semi-dense crowds; it is
a fun mental exercise of massive computation
involving hundreds of bodies with various momenta
and energies.
(BTW, if you're a guy, what the heck are you doing
HERE? You'd better have a dang good reason to
give me when I ask why your tracks show up in my
history.)

I like to laugh and make jokes. No matter how
serious I am, there is usually an undercurrent of
humor. Might have to dig deeper when things are
bad, but it's there.
I am fluent in two languages, English and
calculus. Not necessarily in that order. :)
Storms are exciting and ALWAYS welcome, despite
what your TV weatherperson infers. Sunshine is
the exact opposite. Especially during a drought.
Can we just agree on that right now?
I love cats. My dear old kitty had to be put down
in 2001. I miss her.
Aside from the dull stuff that dominates my life,
I like making cookies, brownies, and other
goodies, watching TV (I'm a news junkie and love
The Simpsons), listening to talk radio (I'd tell
you which station but the License Agreement below
hints that this advertising would not be allowed),
reading, and writing columns on the Internet
(again, I'd tell you where, but that's probably
against the rules--if you're Google-savvy you can
find 'em).
Wait a sec, that's still the dull stuff! Hope
it's "up your alley," too.
