TOP TEN REASONS WHY MEN DISCOUNT ME AS A
COMPANION!!!
Disclaimer: Not complaining, not whining, just
trying to ease some concerns and trying to help
others along this incredible journey...
10. I HAVE LONG HAIR:
Yes I do, some say I am too old to wear my hair as
long as I do, I don’t know what to say, I am not
good with hair, don’t do the fancy stuff…so I keep
it long because I can keep it looking nice, and I
am comfortable with that. You do want me to be
comfortable, don’t you? Besides, there is a lot
to be said for a man’s hands in a woman's
hair……
9. I AM NOT A BLOND
You are right…I am not….
8. I HAVE TOO MANY CHILDREN, AND TOO MANY
GRANDCHILDREN:
I love my children and my grandchildren, we are a
close family. I have wonderful children; this is
NOT a bad thing. However, as wonderful as my
children are, they are NOT my life. They are not
at home, they are independent…and they are VERY
ready for me to move on with my life.
7. I HOLD A CURRENT TEMPLE RECOMMEND:
I need a little help understanding this one….
Maybe someone could explain it to me.
The fact that I hold a recommend does not make me
perfect, and I am not looking for someone who is.
It doesn’t make me preachy, or judgmental. It
only makes me a member of the church who is
striving to do what is asked of me….I try, I fail,
I try, I fail…it is all that is asked! I have
failed miserably in the past…and have only just
recently obtained a Temple recommend, I couldn't
wait to change my status, from “personal”, to
“temple recommend”. It is a good thing guys! I
made some really stupid choices after my husband
died, I’m grateful for the atonement and grateful
that I can learn from my mistakes, grow from them
and keep moving forward.
6. I AM NOT A SIZE 2
Believe me when I say I wish I were…although I am
not a size 22 either, I am a size 12…. average……If
you want little, bitty, petite, your right to
discount me…but if you are looking for someone,
not big, not small…o.k.
It certainly isn't from not trying….I do try…I
work out, I walk/run….all the things I am suppose
to do…but it just gets harder with age. The need
and desire to be with someone who is physically
attractive is one that I DO understand and it goes
both ways. I can promise you that you would never
be embarrassed to be with me, or to introduce me
to your friends or family. I always make sure
that whoever I am with is very glad that he is
with me.
5. I AM TOO AFFECTIONATE:
I believe in love, I believe in showing love and
accepting love. I believe that when you love
someone you LOVE someone! My last relationship
didn’t last because he thought I was too
affectionate. Don’t misunderstand….not smothery,
I just liked sitting by each other watching T.V.,
or kissing in public or at stop lights (isn’t that
what they are for), or coming up behind him for a
hug, he freaked!. I AM a very physical,
affectionate person….so, yes if this bothers
you…then go ahead and discount me!
4. I HAVE BEEN SINGLE TOO LONG:
It HAS been a long time, AND I DON’T LIKE IT ANY
BETTER THAN YOU DO! However, I just needed to
make sure my children were o.k. before I took time
for myself. Some say I robbed them of a
Father…maybe….but I don’t regret the decision.
They don’t either. They are stable, respectful,
good children, and good parents. Enough said
about that.
3. I AM A WIDOW:
OK let me try and understand this one…you would
rather be with someone who has had several bad
marriages, someone who is very angry with their
former spouse, very angry with men in general,
someone who is bitter???? Yes I loved my husband,
yes he was a good man….do I have him on a
pedestal??? No, I don’t. Do I think he was
perfect, certainly not? Am I looking for someone
just like him….maybe with his qualities, he was
gentle, he made me laugh, he was kind, he was an
affectionate, generous lover, he was a good
parent…aren’t these the same qualities you are
looking for in a companion???? They should be…
HOWEVER, MY HUSBAND WAS NOT A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH
AND I HAVE NOT BEEN SEALED TO HIM.! I do want an
eternal companion.
Please don’t think that you have to compete with
him…I have taken all the good from my first
marriage…sealed it up in my heart…and I want to
bring it with me into my next marriage. Just
imagine how wonderful that it could be! We worked
together to make our marriage what it was. I know
how to do that.….I don’t have any ‘baggage' (I
truly hate that expression), I don’t have any
anger, bitterness, or jealous husbands. This one
I don’t understand…sorry.
2. I AM TOO OLD:
Well there is not much I can do about this one…
However, the posted pictures are within the last
year. People tell me I don’t look my age, and are
always surprised when they find out I am a
grandmother. I still hang out with the young
singles, by invitation; they still think I am “the
coolest grandma ever”. Like, I said, not much I
can say, or do about this one….but I do
understand. We all have the need to feel
young…and I guess being with younger people helps
us to feel that way. Maybe you could think about
choosing a companion the same way you think about
choosing a pet..... You want a puppy cause they
are very cute and cuddly, HOWEVER, a puppy must be
taught all the rules to become a good dog. An
'older' dog, already knows the rules, can be VERY
cuddly, VERY affectionate...plus you can start
enjoying the 'older' dog right away...they already
know everything it takes to be your best companion
ever!!!
Here's what Andy Rooney (60 Minutes) had to say
recently about mature women. Quite hilarious in
some places, but he does have a way of making his
point.
As I grow in age, I value older women most of
all.
Here are just a few reasons why:
- An older woman knows herself well enough to be
assured in who she is, what she is, and what she
wants and from whom. Few women past the age of 50
give a darn what you might think about her.
- Older women are dignified. They seldom have a
screaming match with you at the opera or in the
middle of an expensive restaurant. Of
course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to
shoot you if they
think they can get away with it.
- Most older women cook well. They care about
cleanliness and are
generous with praise, often undeserved.
- An older woman has the self-assurance to
introduce you to her women friends. A younger
woman with a man will often ignore even her best
friend because she doesn't trust the guy with
other women. Older women couldn't care less.
- Women get psychic with age. You never have to
confess your sins to
an older woman. They always know.
- An older woman looks good wearing bright red
lipstick. This not true
of younger women or drag queens.
- Once you get past a wrinkle or two, an older
woman is far sexier
than her younger counterpart. Her libido's
stronger, her fear
of pregnancy gone. Her experience of lovemaking is
honed and reciprocal and she's lived long enough
to know how to please a man in ways her daughter
could never dream of. (Young men, you have
something to look forward to).
- Older women are forthright and honest. They'll
tell you right off
you are a jerk if you are acting like one.
Yes, we praise older women for a multitude of
reasons. Unfortunately,
it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart,
well-coiffed babe of
70, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants
making a fool of
himself with some 22 year-old waitress. Ladies, I
apologize for all
of us. That men are genetically inferior is no
secret. Count your
blessings that we die off at a far younger age,
leaving you the best
part of your lives to appreciate the exquisite
woman you've become,
without the distraction of some demanding old man
clinging and
whining his way into your serenity.
(Not my words...however......)
ANNNND the #1 REASON WHY MOST GUYS DISCOUNT ME AS
A POTENTIAL COMPANION IS....(DRUM ROLL
PLEASE)!!!
1. I LIVE TOO FAR AWAY:
It depends on where YOU are…but no, I do not live
in Utah, California, Arizona, Idaho, or Nevada! I
wish I did….I have children in Utah who I visit
three or four times a year. Please know that I
would NEVER ask you to come to me…I WILL COME TO
YOU….I CAN AND WILL
RELOCATE.
Thanks so much to all of those who actually read
this far! I have no idea if this will help you
take a second look….I’m not sure that all of that
matters anymore…but I do know that I feel much
better for having said it…..we are all in this
together…I wish you all good luck…and the Lord’s
choicest blessings!
