I've been in Utah the past 7 years or so (the
second time, after BYU many years ago). I'm
originally from the extreme north of California
(Crescent City). Mom was originally from Utah,
from a large extended family, so I have lots of
roots here. My prior residence was in Japan,
working as a computer science college instructor
on U.S. military bases. Before that, after my
mission and graduation from BYU, I lived most of
my adult life in So. Calif.
My post-mission plans of marrying young and
having a large family didn't materialize...so here
I am on this site. Losing faith over unfulfilled
goals is not the way to go; we pick up and move on
from where we are. My married friends and
relatives refer to their spouses as their best
friend so that's encouraging and sets the right
pattern in developing a relationship.
In terms of personality, I think I have a
wonderful sense of humor (hey, there's some reason
I've lasted this long!) and I'm generally
easy-going and flexible. Family and friends seem
to enjoy being around me, and so do I most of the
time, so I guess that's a pretty good sign.
I love God and am thankful to be a member of
His true church and for the opportunity to prepare
myself and others for the Second Coming and
eternal life.

I play volleyball every week and work out at
Planet Fitness. I enjoy being physically active,
but not in superman shape.
I'm fluent in Spanish, some Portuguese, and
studied and spoke some Japanese while in Asia. I'm
learning Chinese right now with Rosetta Stone.
Other hobbies are writing (I've written two
family books). I enjoy learning new things in my
field and how to be a better instructor and
computer guy. Did I tell you I'm highly technical
and fun to be with? (Is that an oxymoron or
what?)
I enjoy watching movies that meet my
criteria. Sadly, I learned a long time ago not to
trust even LDS friends' opinions on movies so I
always read the parental advisory section on
IMDB.com.
