Greetings! It's been a long and rambling journey
that has brought me to my present spot, living
four blocks west of the Hancock Tower in downtown
Chicago, and working 4 blocks east of the Sears!
Born in Cape Town, South Africa and raised in
England, I now work full-time as an instructional
designer for the distance education program of a
catholic University.
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas granted me two
degrees in Sociology (1987, 1992), and my D.Ed (in
Adult/Distance Education and Instructional Systems
Design, 2003) came from The Pennsylvania State
University. In other lives, I have been assistant
Director of Public Relations for the Riviera Hotel
in Las Vegas, a professional calligrapher, a house
counselor in a psycho-social rehabilitation
facility for the chronically mentally ill (for 5
years), and director of volunteers for an AIDs
agency.
As the family genealogist, I keep track of our
far-flung family (the US, the UK, South Africam
Australia, and New Zealand) and have served in a
Family History Center and look forward to serving
in the FHC (in creation) at the Logan Square
chapel. Over the past 100 years, only my father?s
father, and my mothers two sisters were born and
died in the same country!
While I have 9 children, (5 boys, 4 girls) they
are all grown (the youngest is 27, the oldest, 45)
and living mostly in the south-west. I am buying,
with my sister, a retirement home in Las Vegas I
have family there but will be working in Chicago
for the next 10 years or so.
Over the past 13 years I have traveled with my
work to England, Canada, Germany and Australia
(twice) and lived in State College, PA, Flagstaff,
AZ, Norfolk, VA, Rochester, NY, and now in
Chicago. I have moved with my work, and only my
two cats have had an opinion about where I live!
I enjoy traveling and fell in love with New South
Wales 2 years ago, but it is SO far from
everyone.
I joined the Church in Canada in 1964, and I
graduated, twice, from the Institute program at
what is now Southern Utah University in the early
70s. I have been endowed, but have only recently
returned to Church attendance, after an extended
absence, and am slowly picking up the threads
again.
I'm looking for a companion to share that journey
with. I believe email is a great way to get to
know someone and build friendships and I have the
freedom to travel to meet new friends.

I have varied interests - and am always interested
in learning something new. The best teachers are
those who are passionate about their own
interests, no matter what they are! Mine are:
Online education, online teaching and learning,
growing orchids, genealogy, reading, watching TV,
walking, meeting interesting people, sewing and
quilting, movies, theatre, jazz.
