I'm not the smallest person you'll ever meet, but
I am on the petite side. I was born in the U.S.
but my ancestry is Italian from my father's side
and I look it. Well, Sicilian to be more specific.
And I have 2 arms, 2 legs, 10 fingers, and 10
toes. Couldn't resist the humor. :) Oh and I don't
have any family ties to the Mafia either as far as
I know. :)
I do have two young children, a girl and a boy and
I love them very much.
I am a pretty upbeat, optimistic person usually.
Even through some very rough times I have been
able to keep my sense of humor.
I would say that if I had to come up with a
one-word description of myself that I would choose
the word balanced. I tend to be a little bit of
everything rolled up into one. There are days when
I like to work hard and feel good about what I've
accomplished. Then there are days when I just want
to relax and take it easy. I tend to be organized,
but you won't catch me sorting everything
alphabetically. I like to be outside sometimes,
but I like the indoors too. I like to be around
people, but are also happy just staying home and
reading a book. With my knowledge of nutrition I
like to eat healthy, but I really enjoy brownies
or freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.
I took a personality test at thecolorcode dotcom
and came out a blue, but with secondary yellow and
red.
One thing I can say is that I am an intellectual.
I am always learning something. Whether it's
reading a book on the constitution, or watching my
dad do some carpentry work, or observing how a
friend fixes their computer. I value knowledge and
strive to build upon my own.
Since college I have done all sorts of things. I
started out the mortgage industry but it had a lot
of overtime and I was looking towards having a
family so I left there. Shortly after my brother
decided to be entrepreneurial and I helped him
establish and open a little cafe. After that I got
an opportunity to work with an LDS private school
and taught some great kids for a year. Then I had
my daughter and became a stay at home mother. I
still had a passion for natural health and at some
point while I was teaching had started taking a
few clients for nutritional consultation. Since it
has been a very flexible business I still handle
some clients while taking care of my children.
I am a convert to the church and was baptized in
Nov 2003. The gospel is very important to me. I
recently went to the temple for the first time to
do Baptisms. I would eventually like to be married
in the temple.
It was partially my inquisitive mind that helped
me convert to the church. I had not been raised
with religion in my household, but had the
opportunity through friends and relatives to
experience other churches. I had questions they
couldn't answer, I always felt something was
missing. I didn't accept the common answer of,
it's just something we don't know, you just have
to take it on faith. I knew there had to be
something more. I discovered it when I began
taking the investigator lessons. I understand that
there are still some things that require faith,
but having the complete gospel has answered so
many of the questions I had. I have come to know
that the church is true.
Well anyway, as you can tell, I can talk. But of
course like I said I'm balanced, there are times
when I'm quiet an don't have much to say. But, if
I were going to have a talkative spell I guess
this is the place for it because anybody reading
this is trying to figure out what I'm all about.
Thanks for taking the time to read it. Catch me on
Facebook under Carla Messina.

Let's see, other things about me. Well I do have
an interest in the cultural arts. I taught myself
how to play the piano when I was in the fifth
grade. I'm no expert at it, but I can read sheet
music and learn to play a song if I practice it
enough. At present I still like to tinker with my
keyboard at times, but most of my musical interest
is expressed through listening instead of playing.
Lately I have found Jazz to be soothing. One of my
favorites right now is "At Last" by Etta
James. I also like Ella Fitzgerald, Harry Connick
Jr., Michael Buble, and others. I listen to other
types of music too though. Pop, soft rock,
Christian/gospel, classical, oldies, etc. I do not
get into Heavy Metal or even pop or alternative
rock songs that get too heavy. I like things that
lift me up, not drag me down. I can't stomach rap.
Country is not one of my faves either although,
all respect to those who like it.
Some other interests: I enjoy the theater,
although it's been so long since I've been. The
last thing I saw was Phantom of the Opera, which I
love, in New Orleans. I enjoy a good board game
and spending time with family. I like going to the
movies. Again I like upbeat things, you won't
catch me wanting to see a horror flick or a really
strong drama. I love a good comedy. There are
several movies that have been faves through my
life and I can almost quote them from beginning to
end. Sometimes I find comfort in the familiarity
of a good movie that I've seen a million times.
I like romantic things, but I don't exactly expect
Prince Charming to come sweep me away. I just want
to be in a relationship where one day my partner
notices something about the way my hair keeps
trying to fall in my face while I'm cooking dinner
and that maybe makes him smile so he pulls me away
to dance with me for a moment and do a few simple
turns in the kitchen before we're interrupted by
one of the kids having just spilled their drink on
the floor and my pot is trying to boil over. You
know, just as you're floating in the clouds, real
life kicks back in. :) I'm not looking for a guy
that's touchy feely, but I do like affection.
