Hi! I hope you are having a great day. My name is
Amber. I grew up in Orem, Utah, and then (after a
lot of contemplation about leaving the state) went
to BYU. I studied physics, computer science, math,
and psychology, finally leaving in 2004 with a
degree in psychology teaching and a minor in math
education. I really enjoy both, and I enjoy
teaching both, because it's great to see kids have
that "aha" moment learning something
new.
I got my job teaching middle school math after I
graduated, and I have to tell you, it's the BEST
job in the world! I even teach summer school
because it's so awesome. Although my profile says
I have 0 children, I think I have about 150 at a
time--but they all get to go home and be obnoxious
to their own parents.
In the future, I plan to continue teaching, go
back to school (I'm an education junkie). I can't
decide if I want to get my masters in education,
my masters in counseling psychology, or a law
degree. Someday I will decide. Long-term, my
educational goals include getting a phd in
something.
I just bought a condo, so I'm pretty much
permanent in Orem. It's a fixer upper, and my
family is being WONDERFUL about helping me with
sweat equity to fix the place up. I'm learning so
much about owning and remodeling a
home--demolition, tiling, painting, kitchen stuff,
fixing bathrooms, laying floors, etc. It's been a
total thrill.

Most of my hobbies and interests evolved through
other people--I love my family, and I love kids.
I am an avid crocheter--I have made so many things
from baby booties to clothing, to blankets, and
other such nonsense. I learned to crochet when I
was young from friends, but really got involved
after my grandmother died and I inherited her
crochet hooks and knitting needles.
I also like photography. I was in yearbook in high
school, where I learned to use an SLR from on of
my BEST friends (he was so patient). It was so
fun, I bought a used Nikon my senior year, and
learned how to use it. The camera was stolen a
while ago, but I still use a disposable one when I
want fun photos (until I save the cash for a
camera).
I really like learning new things. My mom is a
teacher, and, well, I inherited her love of
learning and teaching. I learn so much about the
world aroung me, and I love to hang out with kids
of almost any age because they open my eyes to
things I would never notice.
I also like to be outdoors, shop, hang out with
friends, talk, and get to know new people. I'm
looking for friends, so I hope you will contact
me. Have a wonderful day.
